The Rustler XL-5 is an RTR RC Truck so it works straight out of the box. To help cool engine temperature, the Titan motor in the Rustler XL 5 comes equipped with an integrated cooling fan. Keeping the engine cool will extend the life of the motor and increase your run times.

The XL-5 Electronic Speed Control provides good handling and the EZ-Set feature makes setup a breeze. You can choose from three different drive profiles depending on your skill level. The Traxxas Training Mode basically puts the Rustler in a 50% power mode so that a beginner can learn the ropes before going full-throttle. Otherwise, an inexperienced driver could very easily become overwhelmed in full power mode and end up crashing in a most spectacular way. Furthermore, the XL-5 ESC is now waterproof! So, the handling is better in smooth to moderately-rough off-road surfaces and not as good in very rough off-road areas. Also, the steering is not as good at extremely high speeds as some users would have liked.
